Man charged with murder 4 years after fatal shooting in Goldsboro

GOLDSBORO, WAYNE COUNTY (WITN) - An eastern Carolina man is facing a murder charge after a shooting 4 years ago claimed another man's life.

On August 8th, 2015 officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the intersection of Royal Avenue and North Herman Street for a report of a shooting. Once on scene, officials found two men suffering from gunshot wounds in a car that crashed into railroad tracks.

The driver, Tyron Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger Robert Cole was taken to Wayne UNC and then transported to Vidant Medical Center for further treatment. He was later released from Vidant.

Friday, a warrant was served at the Wayne County Detention Center for Dwayne Hardy who was in custody on unrelated charges. Hardy was charged with 1st degree murder and attempted 1st degree murder in connection to that shooting.

He received no bond and has a first court appearance scheduled for Monday.
