PITT COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Greenville Police say extra officers will patrol all Pitt County high schools Thursday after a man was charged with making threats.
Mario Smith, 28, of Winterville, is charged with felony making a false report of mass violence on educational property.
Greenville police say Smith made threats in text messages to a South Central High School student.
The student reported the messages to police.
Smith was arrested early Thursday morning.
Investigators do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the school but Greenville police will have an increased presence at all high schools as a precaution.
