Man arrested in home improvement scam investigation

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man is behind bars after authorities say he refused to do work he had already been paid for.

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office arrested Joshua Farmer on Saturday with eight counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and seven counts of failing to work after being paid.

Authorities say Farmer is accused of using his business, which is known as Farmer's Home Improvement, to get people to pay him to begin a project, which he would allegedly not complete.

Farmer reportedly did this numerous times over the last several months.

He was booked under an $85,000 bond.

Detectives believe there may be other victims out there. If you had contact with Farmer about a job, you can contact the Sheriff's Office at 252-559-6140.
