Greenville roads closing for utility work

Utility work is causing some roads in the east to temporarily close.

East Fifth Street will close starting at 8 Monday morning at the intersection with Biltmore Street. The closure is expected to last about three weeks. Drivers will have to detour via Student Street, East Fourth Street and South Rotary Avenue while work is being done.

On Wednesday, West Fifth Street will close between Evans Street and South Washington Street. That closure will also start at 8 a.m. It is only expected to last until this Friday.

Eastbound traffic will detour onto South Washington Street, West Fourth Street and Cotanche Street. Westbound traffic will detour onto Evans Street, West Fourth Street and South Washington Street.
