Local and state hospitals receive grades from watchdog group
A healthcare watchdog group has released grades for two hospitals in our state, and now hospital leaders there are responding to those grades.
The Leapfrog Group recently released grades based on how the hospitals protect patients from injuries, errors, or accidents.
According to the report card, WakeMed hospitals in Raleigh and Cary got a 'C.' WRAL reports the two had higher rates of infection or objects being left in a patient's body compared to other hospitals.
WakeMed reportedly told WRAL that the scores do not recognize that the hospital's infection rates have improved since last year.
Vidant Medical Center in Greenville received a 'B.'
Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro received an 'A.' Wilson Medical Center received a 'C' and CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern received an 'A.'
