Lenoir County man drowned, pulled from Contentnea Creek

An Eastern Carolina man has died after authorities pulled him out of the Contentnea Creek.
Around 5:24 a.m., authorities responded to a fatal drowning and pulled a man's body out of the water on the Pitt County side of the creek.
Hugo Volunteer Fire Department and Lenoir County paramedics performed CPR on the man until Pitt County authorities came.
It is unclear if this was a medical situation.
The name of the victim has not been released yet.
