LA GRANGE, NC (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina educator is in the running for a top statewide honor.
Elizabeth Pierce, principal of E.B. Frink Middle School in La Grange, has been named Principal of the Year for the state's Southeast Region. That region is made up of 13 counties.
Pierce, who has been principal at Frink for three years, was surprised with the announcement this morning at the central offices in Kinston.
Previously, Pierce was principal at Moss Hill Elementary and an assistant principal at Rochelle and Woodington middle schools and Kinston High School.
The Wells Fargo Principal of the Year will be named this spring among eight finalists.
