GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Whether healthcare or border security people in the East had a chance to ask questions to two legislators about the issues important to them.
Representative Kandie Smith and Senator Don Davis held a town hall in Greenville Thursday. The event was Representative Smith's idea as part of the "Week of Action initiative. Representatives from across the state are holding similar events to make sure they are in tune with what their districts want to see.
One of the big topics at Thursday's town hall was Medicare expansion. Davis and Smith say that issue, like many others will require compromise from both parties. Bipartisanship in the Republican led state house was another concern for voters.
"We may not be able to get all wins on one side or the other but if we work together we can get some wins from both sides," said Smith.
"It's important that everyone understands that we're listening. Call us, email us, reach out to us, that's the entire delegation, we want to hear from you," said Davis.
Smith estimates about 70 people attended Thursday's town hall, which was her first as state representative.
No word yet on when her next town hall will be but she hopes to live stream future events for those unable to attend.
