Kohl's gives toys & books to kids at James & Connie Maynard Children's Hospital

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) Some kids at the James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital received a summertime surprise Tuesday.

Employees of the Greenville Kohl's department store paid the hospital a visit and provided kids with bags of goodies, including books and DVD's and Disney plush toys.

This is the 8th the year Kohl's has partnered with the Vidant Injury Prevention program to make sure that kids are remembered during the summer months.

Ellen Walston, Injury Prevention Coordinator with Vidant Medical Center says that kids often receive a lot of gifts during the holiday season, and it's important that patients who are hospitalized in the summer receive support as well.

Walston says, "We just really want to make sure that they are remembered especially during their hospital stay which can be really difficult for families and we just want to celebrate with them and bring some cheer in the summertime."

The brothers and sisters of patients also received books and Disney characters as well.
