KINSTON, NC (WITN) A group of volunteers is helping out a resident who is blind, to live more comfortably.
The group of volunteers is building a ramp to help a woman out once she gets out of the hospital.
The Presbyterian Men's Group is building a ramp for a woman who has been blind all of her life.
Recently, Vernetta Lockhart fell down the steps of her home and broke her ankle. She is currently living in a rehab facility, but will be able to return to her Kinston home once the ramp is built and her rehab is complete.
Volunteers hope this new addition will make it easier for Lockhart to get in and out of her home.
Kinston Builders Supply donated all of the materials for the ramp. Organizers say the materials to do these projects are expensive and they hope to do many more for the community.
