LENOIR COUNTY, NC (WITN) A mother in Lenoir County is behind bars under no bond after being arrested with the death of her toddler son.
Heather Lipscomb has been charged with murder.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office says back on April 22nd they were called to a toddler death on Roanoke Avenue in the Albritton community.
Investigators say it began when the mother of Ja'Kobe Applewhite called 911 because her son was limp and not responding.
Deputies say an autopsy recently revealed that the 21-month-old suffered traumatic injuries that led to or caused his death and that proper medical attention was not given.
Lipscomb was arrested on July 4th.
The child's father and grandmother say the autopsy reported the toddler had significant blunt force trauma. Ja'Kobe would have turned two years old on Thursday.
