GRIFTON, NC (WITN) - The Grifton Historical Museum is gearing up for it's annual "John Lawson Legacy Days, Celebrating Pioneer Heritage" event this weekend.
Activities will be underway at the museum, located at 437 Creekshore Dr. in Grifton from 6-9pm on Friday, October 27 and from 9am-5pm on Saturday, October 28.
John Lawson was a British explorer credited with founding Bath, NC and New Bern, NC.
The free, family-friendly event celebrates his legacy and will feature history presentations, primitive demonstrations and exhibits and more. Tryon Palace is sending an exhibit with John Lawson artifacts to be on display and there will be cannon firings on Friday night and throughout the day on Saturday.
Children can enjoy old timey toys, storytelling and finding shark teeth in the fossil pit.
