KENANSVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - One community college in the east just received a generous gift that they say will benefit students and the local economy for years to come.

On Wednesday, James Sprunt Community College announced their plans to use a $15,000 grant from the NC Community College System office.

The grant money was given to the office by the Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.

James Sprunt says they'll use the money to start their Growing Your Agribusiness program.

The course will be 96 hours with livestock and horticulture as the fields of study.

The college says their goal is to help those in the tobacco business transition to a new agricultural business that will help the students and the local economy grow.
