An Eastern Carolina dentist is offering kids cash for their extra Halloween candy for the fourth year in a row.

Lesan Family Dentistry in Jacksonville is participating in a nation-wide effort called Operation Gratitude.

Kids will receive $1 per pound of candy donated up to five pounds. The candy is then mailed to U.S. troops, veterans and first responders.

Last year, the office collected 165 pounds of candy.

You can stop by their office at 123 Cobia Court in Jacksonville from 3-5 p.m. Thursday or Friday to trade it in.
