PAMLICO COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Insurance agents will be in the east Wednesday to encourage people to start preparing for the upcoming hurricane season.
Staff with the Department of Insurance will be in Pamlico County to talk with people about disaster relief and the importance of purchasing flood insurance.
It takes 30 days for flood insurance to take effect.
The meeting will be held at the Department of Social Services building at 10 a.m.
The official start of hurricane season is on June 1.
Meetings will also be held next week in Carteret and Wayne counties.
