Inmate captured after escape from Nash County jail

NASH COUNTY, NC (WITN) - An inmate is back in custody after escaping from the Nash County jail Tuesday morning.

Nash County deputies say Terrell Miles, 29, was found during a traffic stop outside of the emergency room entrance at UNC-Nash.

Miles tried to run away, but was quickly caught.

Deputies believe Miles stuffed materials in a door lock to make it inoperable. They say once outside in the exercise yard, Miles pushed out the lower part of the fence to make his getaway after hopping over a six-foot fence.

This is the sixth inmate to escape from the jail in just the last two months. In late March, five inmates escaped from the same jail after deputies said they pulled apart a fence, jumping over two gates. All five men were eventually caught.

Miles was jailed on aid and abet armed robbery, possession of a firearm and other charges. He's also facing a charge for escaping from the jail.
