Hundreds gathered for a model train show in New Bern

Hundreds lined the tracks inside a model train show in one Eastern North Carolina city this weekend.

The 24th Annual New Bern Train Show displayed models of all sizes, allowing kids and adults to climb aboard for a journey through their imagination.

The Carolina Coastal Railroaders put on the show every year.

The show relocated to New Bern High School, because the Riverfront Convention Center is still closed for repairs.

The show's Chairman George Shalhoub said the family friendly event continues to bring in crowds every year.

"Children just seem to gravitate and they love to just watch the running trains. For adults it's a way for them to get their kids out into something and to see something different and take some stress off," Shalhoub said.

Funds raised from tickets sales go to supporting the Carolina Coastal Railroaders and helps them organize next year's show.
