GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) With Christmas just 11 days away, Pitt County Toys For Tots hosted a distribution to help families in need provide gifts to their children this holiday season.
Families lined up outside this morning waited patiently for an opportunity to pick out toys for their kids.
The Greenville Housing Authority hosted the Toys For Tots distribution. People in the community have spent weeks donating toys to Pitt County Toys For Tots and on Saturday those donations paid off.
Toys filled the Culture Recreation Center in Greenville all for families who registered this holiday season.
Parents were able to choose two gifts for each of their children.
The housing authority says 257 families benefited and congressman Greg Murphy who was also at the event takes great pride in the support his community provides.
"No child should have a Christmas without some type of special gift for them and it's just a beautiful reminder of how the community comes together," says Murphy.
The Greenville Housing Authority also received an award for their hard work and service to the community.
