More information released in Edgecombe County homicide

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Deputies in one Eastern Carolina county have released more information on a homicide investigation.

Edgecombe County deputies have identified the victim as Jamarcus Sellers.

The man's body was found around 10:00 a.m. Thursday in a wooded area near the intersection of Davistown-Mercer Rd. and Jenkins Farm Rd. outside of Pinetops.

Deputies say it appears the man died of gunshot wounds. They discovered the body as they were investigating a missing person case.

They're asking anyone who saw anything suspicious or heard gunshots in the area on Tuesday night between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. to call them at 252-641-7911.

Edgecombe County sheriff's deputies say they were investigating a missing person case when they found a body off of Jenkins Farm Road outside of Pinetops Thursday.

The victim has not been identified.
