Harlem Globetrotters to perform in Greenville Thursday night

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - The world famous Harlem Globetrotters basketball team is taking to the court here in the east Thursday night.

The Globetrotters are taking on their traditional nemesis, the Washington Generals, at Minges Coliseum at ECU as part of their 2019 Fan Powered World Tour.

The show is expected to be more exciting and fan friendly than ever.

Globetrotters Ambassador, Orlando "El Gato" Melendez says they're encouraging fans to interact with the players during the game to dictate how the game is going to go.

The show starts at 7 p.m.

The world famous Harlem Globetrotters basketball team is playing in Eastern Carolina and promising a fan-friendly show with plenty of team interaction.

The Globetrotters are taking on their traditional nemesis, the Washington Generals, next week at Minges Coliseum at ECU.

Globetrotters Ambassador, Orlando "El Gato" Melendez came by WITN Thursday.He says next week's game will be more exciting and fan friendly than ever.

The game is part of the team's 2019 Fan Powered World Tour and encourages fans to interact with the players during the game.

Melendez said, "We are giving the fans the power to dictate how the game is going to go. So imagine you can go to your favorite Harlem Globetrotter, which is me right, and you can be like, 'Hey Gato, can you do this 360 degree dunk between the legs because my kid is going to love it. He's gonna go crazy. I want to record it.' And I turn around and be like, I got you brother. So that's the type of interaction we're going to have with the team this year."

The show gets underway at 7 o'clock next Thursday, March 21, 2019.
