Greg Murphy sworn in as 3rd District Congressman
Eastern Carolina's newly elected Congressman was sworn in on Tuesday.
Republican Representative Dr. Greg Murphy won last week's 3rd Congressional District race.
He will now hold the seat that's been vacant since the passing of Walter Jones Jr. back in February.
Moving from the state House to the U.S. Capitol, the Republican will need to get used to being in the House minority.
Murphy says his first priority is finding solutions for constituents who call-in to the office with real-world problems.
George Washington University Political Science Professor Gary Nordlinger says working with the public will be Murphy's best chance to make his mark in a shortened first term.
It won't be long before Murphy will have to decide if he wants to run again to keep his new seat. Candidates will have to file their paperwork by December 20th.
