Greenville's North State Little League team 1 win away from World Series
North State beat Goodlettesville, Tennessee Monday night in the Southeast Regional semifinals to advance to Wednesday's championship game.
A win by North State on Wednesday would send a Greenville, North Carolina team to the Little League World Series for the first time since 1998.
North State broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the first inning when Drew Fields singled to right field with the bases loaded to drive in two runs and give North State a 3-1 lead.
North Carolina added another run in the bottom of the fourth on a passed ball that allowed Matthew Matthijs to score easily from third.
Thomas Barrett got the win on the mound throwing five strong innings with five strikeouts.
Matthew Matthijs, Carson Hardee, Cameron Greenway and Drew Fields each had one of North State's four total hits in the victory.
North State scored all four runs with two outs.
