Greenville road race raises awareness for substance abuse recovery

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Community leaders are taking strides to end substance abuse.

The Pitt County Coalition on Substance Abuse is partnering with ECU'S Collegiate Recovery community to host the Recovery Road 5K Race.

The goal of the event is raise awareness and celebrate those in recovery from substance abuse and other mental health disorders.

Even if you are unable to run, local mental health and substance use organizations will be at the event to share educational information.

Registration for the event starts at 8 am at the Greenville Town Common and the race officially begins at 8:30 am on Saturday, September 14. The fee is $30, with proceeds benefiting substance abuse organizations throughout the community.
