Greenville police names newest K9 in honor of fallen deputy

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - A new four-legged police officer is carrying on the legacy of a fallen deputy here in the east.

Greenville police are welcoming the department's newest K9 Sneak. Sneak is named for Nash County deputy and U.S. Marshal's Task Force Officer Warren "Sneak" Lewis III.

Lewis was shot and killed during a murder investigation in Kinston in 2011.

At the time, Sneak's handler, Officer William Groseclose, was working as a new officer with Kinston police.

He went on to become a K9 handler in Greenville and says he's always hoped to name a dog in Lewis' honor.
