Greenville man gets 25-35 years for child sex crimes

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - A Greenville man will have to spend at least the next 25 years in prison after being convicted of child sex crimes.

A Pitt County jury this morning found Jeffrey Suggs guilty of statutory sex offense on a child by an adult after hearing two days of testimony. He was found not guilty of indecent liberties with a child.

The District Attorney's Office says jurors heard from three young children between the ages of seven and thirteen years old, along with doctors, nurses and child forensic experts.

The 37-year-old man also took the stand and denied the allegations.

Judge Jeffrey Foster sentenced Suggs to serve between 25 and 35 years, register as a sex offender and when released be required to have satellite-based monitoring for the rest of his life.
