Greenville man accused of trying to rob Pitt County store

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man from Greenville is accused of trying to rob a store on Saturday in Pitt County.

Deputies say Chadwick Bailey tried to steal $500 in cash. It happened at Mills Market on Mills Road.

They believe the 30-year-old Bailey was impaired when he came into the store and demanded money he felt he was owed. Deputies say the man pulled a loaded handgun from his pocket, pointed it at the clerk and tried to get money from the store.

Bailey was still in the parking lot when deputies arrived.

He is charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, and second degree kidnapping. His bond is set at $150,000.
