Greenville event aims to help people with prescription costs
A fundraiser luncheon was held Wednesday for an organization that helps people who are uninsured get the medication they may need.
The group is called NC Med Assist and they are a nonprofit pharmacy program that helps provide access to life-saving prescription medication along with patient support, and advocacy services to those who might not otherwise have access to those services.
They held their Women in Health luncheon at the Greenville Hilton.
NC Med Assist is able to help adults and children living at or below two hundred percent of the federal poverty level and those who do not qualify for Medicaid, help through the VA or private health insurance.
Last year the non-profit helped 1,670 patients with more than 23,000 prescriptions.
