About JDRF:

This year’s reason is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). JDRF was founded in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes. The Triangle/Eastern NC Chapter of JDRF established its first chapter office in 1996. The chapter territory covers 51 counties in eastern North Carolina, ranging from the Triangle region to the coast. JDRF currently funds more research toward curing type 1 diabetes than any other non-profit, non-governmental organization in the world. Since their founding they have raised $25 million dollars through our events and of that $15 million has come back to the Triangle to fund research at local universities.
