GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Greenville Utilities is helping people get ready for the warmer weather ahead of the first day of summer.
Next Friday, June 21 is the official start of summer.
To help beat the heat, GUC is giving away fans to those in need Thursday, June 13.
GUC has made its fan give-away an annual tradition.
"The heat and humidity of eastern North Carolina summers can create a real hardship for many families who suffer because of lack of air conditioning or fans," said Tony Cannon, General Manager/CEO of Greenville Utilities. "Fans are an economical way to get some relief from the heat, and we are pleased to provide them as a gesture of community support."
The fans are given to the Department of Social Services and the Pitt County Council on Aging to be distributed to qualifying families, the elderly, handicapped and others who qualify.
