Greenville Purple Gala raises awareness for Alzheimer's, dementia

A local organization is working to raise awareness and support for Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

The Pitt Aging Coalition is hosting the Greenville Purple Gala on Thursday, November 15 as a fundraiser for Dementia Alliance, which is formerly known as Alzheimer's NC.

The event will feature live music, hor d'oeuvres and drinks, with 100% of the proceeds going toward Alzheimer's and dementia education, caregiver support, advocacy and general research.

Alzheimer's and dementia is something that hits home for a lot of families across the state, with 170,000 people diagnosed in North Carolina alone.

The event will be held at the Greenville Museum of Art on S Evans Street from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.
