Greenville Art Museum hosting gaming afternoon

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Games will "meet art" at the Greenville Museum of Art with an afternoon of fun for people of all ages.

The museum is hosting two separate events for different age groups on Saturday, February 2.

Both will feature all kinds of age-appropriate games.

Games Meet Art: 1-4pm
Games Meet Art is a great family event in which games of all sorts take over the Museum, inside and out! Our large West Wing Gallery features an enormous array of board games, from Apples to Apples to LIFE to Chutes and Ladders, as well as a game show and life-size versions of Connect 4 and Jenga. We create a great space to meet new friends and learn new games. We hold tutorials for adults and kids on Pokémon, which demonstrate the mathematical and critical thinking skills utilized by this game, and we provide free demos of new and exciting family-oriented games. What family doesn’t want to learn more games to play together? Our Commons Gallery becomes a large video arcade, featuring video games on an assortment of devices, old and new, including Xbox, Nintendo, PlayStation, Wii, and more. This space attracts people of all ages. Parents can play games from their childhood, like Guitar Hero and Super Mario Brothers, and young kids can try out a new device! Outside the Museum, we bring two well-known games to life with life-size versions of Hungry Hungry Hippos and Angry Birds! These were a hit this past Spring. This event encourages physical activity, sharpens mental and critical thinking skills, encourages family and group play, and creates an afternoon full of laughter!

GMArcade: 8-10pm
