Giving Tuesday to benefit Community Crossroads homeless shelter
Tuesday is a big day for charities and many organizations across the East and nation.
Giving Tuesday is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. On this day, it is encouraged that people give back to organizations that help the public.
Community Crossroads Center in Greenville is one organization that helps the community.
The center is a homeless shelter that provides people temporary shelter while working toward securing a permanent residence.
Ken Becker is the executive director of Community Crossroads Center.
He said Tuesday is their biggest contribution day during the year.
The center is looking for monetary donations and also donations of blankets, winter clothes, towels, pillows and sheets.
Becker said if you miss donating Tuesday, you can also donate through to the following Tuesday.
He said for every dollar donated, three businesses have stepped up to match dollar-per-dollar up to $12,500.
You can donate through their website at communitycrossroadscenter.org, their Facebook page or by dropping contributions off at the center.
