Gangs believed involved in two shootings that wounded three people Sunday night

ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Gangs are believed to be involved in two different shootings that injured three people in one Eastern Carolina county.

Onslow County deputies say there is a possibility that the shootings Sunday night at two different homes ten miles apart are related.

Col. Chris Thomas says two women were wounded in the first shooting on Blue Creek Farms Drive around 6:30 p.m. where a party was going on. A 19-year-old woman remains at Vidant Medical Center after being shot in her lower abdomen, while a 30-year-old woman was treated at Naval Medical Center for her wound to her hip area.

Thomas says the shots were fired from a dark passenger car that drove by the home. Tuesday morning they released surveillance photos of that car.

The second shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on Aragona Boulevard. Thomas said residents said someone fired shots at their home, and initially no injuries were reported. But several hours later a 23-year-old man who lived at the home showed up at Onslow Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen.

So far no arrests have been made in either shooting.
