Fundraiser underway to replace vandalized Kinston African American musician portraits
An online fundraiser is underway to replace several portraits of local African American musicians torn down in one Eastern Carolina city.
It was earlier this year that it was discovered that someone had destroyed 24 portraits that line unused storefronts in downtown Kinston.
The portraits had been put up as part of the North Carolina Arts Council's efforts to bring recognition to local African American artists that have made an impact in music. It's also a part of the city's beautification efforts.
A Facebook fundraiser has been established to help raise $3,500 to go toward replacing the portraits. Click

No arrests have been made surrounding the vandalism of the portraits.
