Ft. Bragg soldier killed in training incident

FORT POLK, LOUISIANA, (NBC) One soldier stationed in Fort Bragg is dead and 12 others were injured during a training incident at Fort Polk, Louisiana Wednesday.

The Army says 34-year-old Staff Sergeant Jacob Hess of Missouri died as a result of his injuries.

Army officials say the other 12 have non-life threatening injuries.

Hess was a decorated solider, had deployed to Iraq and was called a dedicated member of the brigade.

He was posthumously awarded the meritorious service medal.

The incident is still under investigation.
