GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Cancer is the leading cause of death in North Carolina.
While cancer diagnoses continue to rise, survival rates are at an all time high. Professionals at Vidant Cancer Care want to keep the survival rates that way, which is why they are hosting a free cancer screening this week.
The Power Up event is happening on Thursday, November 21 from 5- 8 p.m. at the Eddie and Jo Allison Smith Tower at Vidant Medical Center.
Outreach coordinator for Vidant Cancer Care Nikki Hyatt, RN, says screenings can prevent cancer and finding it early can help with survival rates.
Anyone who has a family history or a lifestyle behavior that could lead to cancer are encouraged to get screened. Even if there is no family history and you are healthy, you can still attend the event to learn more about the warning signs and resources available.
All of the screenings are free.
