Fox tests positive for rabies in Lenoir County

LENOIR COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Health officials in one Eastern Carolina county say a fox has tested positive for rabies.

According to a news release from the Lenoir County Health Department, animal control was contacted after the fox attacked a dog. The dog was placed into quarantine, but nobody could find the fox.

Neighbors later spotted the fox back in the neighborhood and it was captured within 24 hours of the attack.

Health officials say it's the second rabid fox found in Lenoir County this year.
