RALEIGH, NC (WITN) - The flu in North Carolina has claimed two more lives, bringing to eight the number of deaths so far this season.
The state Department of Health and Human Services released the latest figures this afternoon.
Of the eight deaths, one victim was between the ages of 25 and 49, while the rest were 65 years of age or older.
DHHS says overall flu cases are running about the same as in the past two flu seasons. In 2016 & 2017 state statistics showed large increases in cases right after Christmas.
Flu season runs through the middle of May in North Carolina.
