Five vehicle crash closes down Craven County highway

CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A five-vehicle crash has closed down a busy highway in one Eastern Carolina county this afternoon.

The crash on Highway 43, also known as Washington Post Road, happened around 1:30 p.m.

The Craven County mishap involved a log truck, a propane truck, a transit van, and two cars.

The West of New Bern Volunteer Fire Department says four people were transported to the hospital. It's not known if any of those victims have life threatening injuries.

Diesel fuel and oil spilled on the highway which is expected to be closed at least until 3:30 p.m.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
