Firefighters rescue dog from burning Havelock home

HAVELOCK, N.C. (WITN)- A dog was rescued from a home following an afternoon fire in Havelock.

The Cherry Point Fire Department responded alongside Havelock Firefighters to a home on Coachman Lane around 2:50 p.m.

Officials with Cherry Point say that police reported the house was fully involved and that a baby was trapped inside.

Crews determined the home was 50% involved and firefighters entered the home to search for the baby.

Shortly after crews made it inside, officials say that baby was reported safe but that a dog was trapped.

Firefighters were able to find the dog who they say was scared but happy to be outside with his family.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Cherry Point firefighters.

Crews from Township Six and Harlowe Fire were also on the scene.
