UPDATE: Halifax County highway reopen following fire

HALIFAX COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A highway is reopen after a fire broke out early this morning.

Enfield police say it happened at the PDQ Laundromat and a neighboring sweepstakes business off of Highway 301 near West Bryant Street around 3 a.m.

The highway reopened to all traffic just before 8 a.m.

Multiple Halifax and Nash County fire departments worked for more than three hours to put out all of the remaining hot spots. No one was inside either building at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.

Crews say they are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

Part of a Halifax County highway is shut down Monday morning as crews work to put out a fire.

Enfield Police Chief Tryee Davis says part of Highway 301 near West Bryant Street shut down around 3 a.m. due to a fire.

Crews are currently on scene working to put out the flames. The road is expected to be closed for several more hours.

Drivers are urged to take an alternate route until the scene is clear.
