Highway Patrol is investigation a wreck involving an Onslow County school bus.

Sergeant TC Wells says it happened around 3:45 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 17 and Dawson Cabin Road.

Onslow County School Officials say 41 kids were on the Southwest Elementary school bus at the time, two of which were being checked out by first responders.

Wells says the bus was traveling south on U.S. 17 when it stopped to let kids off.

He says despite the bus having its stop arm activated and lights on, that a white Mazda failed to slow down and hit a burgundy GMC Envoy, which was stopped for the bus.

The Envoy went into the median, and then a Jeep hit the Mazda and then the bus.

Wells says there were only minor injuries and no one was taken to the hospital.

Christian Wied, 24, of Camp Lejeune, and Tori Nash, 21, of Holly Ridge, were both cited with failure to reduce speed.
