Father pleads guilty in baby daughter's murder

JACKSONVILLE, NC (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina father pled guilty this afternoon for killing his nine-month-old daughter back in 2017.

Traquan Curtis appeared before a judge this afternoon at the Onslow County Courthouse.

Curtis was arrested in Connecticut nearly three months after the baby died on September 22, 2017.

The father pled guilty to second degree murder and intentional child abuse.

Izidora Curtis died from blunt force trauma to her neck and head, according to an autopsy, while there were other injuries.

Under a plea deal, Curtis was sentenced to serve between 28 and 37 years in prison. He will receive credit for time served while awaiting trial and also receive psychological testing while in prison.
