GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - ECU football fans filled Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on Saturday for the annual 'Meet The Pirates' event.

The event kicked off at 4 p.m. as Pirate fans came out to get ready for the upcoming football season.

Fans had the opportunity to purchase old jerseys, enjoy different food trucks, and even tour the new TowneBank Tower.

Many fans expressed their hope for a successful football season and their eagerness to see how first-year head coach Mike Houston will perform.

Jim Crooke, a Pirate fan and proud member of the alumni association, says he is ready for the season to kickoff and to see how Houston does with his coaching.

"I like the new coach and his staff," said Crooke. "I like his family approach and the mentality of working hard and as a family and staying we and we hope we can turn it around."

ECU plays its first game against in-state rival N.C. State on Saturday, August 31 at Carter-Finley Stadium.
