Elderly woman medevaced off cruise ship near Oregon Inlet
An elderly woman was medevaced off a cruise ship near the Oregon Inlet this morning.
The U.S. Coast Guard says they got the call around 8:40 a.m. that the 76-year-old woman was having abdominal pains while on board the Grandeur of the Seas.
The 915 foot long ship was some 20 miles off the coast at the time.
A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Elizabeth City hoisted the woman and her daughter off the ship, taking them to Norfolk Sentara Hospital.
There has been no update on the woman's condition since then.
