ENC student collecting shoes for those in need
An Eastern Carolina high school student is working to make an impact on the lives of people in need.
Soles4Souls Ambassador, Shelley Anderson, is a student at Edgecombe Early College in Tarboro.
Anderson is organizing an on-going new and gently used shoe drive across the east through December 1.
Anderson hopes to collect 1,000 pairs of shoes of any and every kind.
Anyone who wants to donate shoes can drop them off at:
-Roberson & Dupree Shoe Store (Tarboro)
-Golden Touch Hair Salon (Tarboro)
-Jolian Shoes and Accessories (Wilson)
-JA’s Uniform Shop (Greenville)
According to a press release, Soles4Souls disrupts the cycle of poverty by creating sustainable jobs and providing relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, the organization repurposes product to supply its micro-enterprise, disaster relief and direct assistance programs. Since 2006, it has distributed more than 30 million pairs of shoes in 127 countries. A nonprofit social enterprise, Soles4Souls earns more than half of its income and commits 100% of donations to programs.
