ECU students celebrate Halloween in Uptown

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) Halloween is always a busy night in Uptown Greenville and police have been out in full force with safety and security a top priority.

Police set up three checking stations from 9 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. at Fifth and Reade, Fifth and Evans and Cotanche near the parking deck.

There were also road closures.

The Five Points lot and the Fourth Street parking deck were open for public parking this year.

The Greenville Police Department has hired "Staff One" to work security at the downtown entrance points. . Extra police officers were also stationed in the downtown area and throughout the city.

For security reasons, no weapons, anything that can be used as a weapon, or masks were permitted in the designated event areas.
