An East Carolina University student has died in the same residence hall where another student was found dead just weeks earlier.

ECU police say the student was found dead around 9:45 p.m. Monday. WITN confirmed it happened in Fleming Hall.

Officers do not believe foul play was involved, but the investigation is ongoing. Captain Chris Sutton says they responded to the dorm after receiving a call requesting a welfare check.

This marks the sixth student death this semester. In October, another student passed away in Fleming Hall due to complications related to Type 1 diabetes.

The student's name is not being released until family is notified.

The university says the counseling center is open with walk-in hours from 11 am- 4 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
