East Carolina University honored Veterans Friday with its annual paver dedication ceremony.

Pavers near the liberty bell on campus show the names of people who have served in the military -- and some who served with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans of Foreign Wars, support the troops, the Wounded Warrior project and similar programs.

One Veteran that attended the ceremony enlisted out of high school, and is now getting his degree as a cadet at ECU.

He says that he chose to serve first -- to give back to the country that has given his family so much, after his parents emigrated during the Vietnam War.

Eric Kanynasengmany, Veteran & ECU student says,"Especially for my family, coming, emigrating from Laos during that time of war, it was my way to pay back everything that America has done for us and it really makes us appreciate getting out of there and living this life that we live now."

During the ceremony, the victory bell was struck as each name was read from the forty pavers that were dedicated.
