ECU holds annual Earth Day expo

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Science came to life for hundreds of Eastern Carolina kids Tuesday.

The ECU Biology Department held its annual Earth Day Expo on campus with interactive events and displays for kids of all ages.

Visitors had the chance to hold reptiles including several species of lizards and pythons.
Birds of prey, including a hawk and a screeching owl were also on display along with a wide variety of coastal and marine science activities.

Heather Vance-Chalcraft with the ECU Biodiversity Initiative said, "We really just want to show people that science is fun and interesting for all ages, and it doesn't have to be intimidating and straight from books."

The event is free and open to the public every year.
